The Commodore MAX Machine was a computer released by Commodore in Japan in 1982. It was essentially a variant of the Commodore VIC-20 with a different case design and a built-in tape drive. As far as I am aware, there are no emulators specifically designed for the Commodore MAX Machine. However, there are emulators that can emulate the Commodore VIC-20, which should work for running MAX Machine software. Some of the best Commodore VIC-20 emulators for PC (Windows, Mac, and Linux) include:
- VICE: VICE is a free and open-source emulator that can emulate a variety of Commodore computers, including the VIC-20. It is available for Windows, Mac, and Linux.
- CCS64: CCS64 is a Windows-based emulator that is designed specifically for emulating the Commodore 64 and VIC-20.
- Hoxs64: Hoxs64 is another Windows-based emulator that is designed specifically for emulating the Commodore 64 and VIC-20.
- WebVIC: WebVIC is a web-based VIC-20 emulator that can be run in a web browser. It is available for Windows, Mac, and Linux.
It is worth noting that the Commodore MAX Machine was not a particularly popular computer and there are relatively few games and applications available for it. As such, you may find that many VIC-20 games and applications do not work on the MAX Machine due to differences in hardware and software.
